BBC reports that several Muslim men that were convicted of distributing anti-gay leaflets at a gay pride festival in 2010 are in court and have been convicted of hate crimes.

The court heard testimony from several gay men last week about Ihjaz Ali, Razwan Javed, and Kabir Ahmed’s leaflets. One man testified that he felt threatened in his own home after getting one. He wasn’t sure if he’d find a fire bomb in his mailbox or be attacked openly in the streets.

The leaflets included messages stating GAY-God Abhors You, Turn or Burn, and Death Penalty along with a mannequin being hung with a noose.

Although the three Muslims state they were not hate related, but instead sharing religious teachings about homosexuals the court wasn’t buying it.
Sentencing begins February 10th. The men are looking at spending up to seven years in jail for their leaflets of hate.
This is the first prosecution for promoting hate crimes after the 2010 law condemned harassment.
